The trail to Highland Lakes continues through Gardiner Meadow to intersect with the dirt road from Highway 4. We can follow the dirt road down to Upper Highland Lake and the Highland Creek Trailhead, which will connect us up with the Tahoe to Yosemite Trail down at Jenkins Canyon. From Jenkins Canyon we can head North towards Lake Alpine or South towards the Clarks Fork of the Stanislaus River, where we will again encounter road, this time from Highway 108, at the Arnot Creek Trailhead.
To our Northeast Wolf Creek Pass brings us over to the East side of Bull Canyon and Highland Peak, where Wolf Creek drains Northeast to feed the lower reaches of the East Fork of the Carson River. We are headed up to the highest parts of the East Carson River along the PCT South.
